Claire Evans

Since graduating in 1996 with a 1st in Social Policy Research - apart from a short spell as a VAT Inspector - Claire has been involved in either assessing or investigating complaints.
Claire started her investigating career with the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) in 1998 and really honed her investigating skills there. Claire undertook many senior roles for PHSO before leaving their employment in 2015. Some of the highlights included being Head of the Review Team, where she was responsible for leading the team who investigated complaints about PHSO; and being Assistant Director of Health Investigations, where she was responsible for over 1,000 investigations a year, as well as PHSO’s liaison programme with the NHS and others.
Since leaving permanent employment with PHSO, Claire has continued to undertake complaint handling and investigating roles for them. She is also currently the Service Complaint Adjudicator for the Legal Ombudsman and the Independent Reviewer for the Property Ombudsman. As the last stage in the complaints process for both Ombudsman Schemes, she provides the final adjudication on complaints about them. In both roles she also reports to the respective Boards every year on what she has seen, what has improved and what needs further work.
