Mark Hedges

Mark has worked as an associate investigator for ch&i associates since 2016, during which time he has primarily conducted independent investigations into allegations that members of Parish, Town, District and County Councils have failed to comply with their Code of Conduct. While Mark was initially brought in because of his excellent track record in conducting complex investigations, he has since developed an excellent understanding of the responsibilities and challenges faced by those who work and serve in Local Government. Indeed since 2021, Mark has held the statutory position of Independent Person for Broadland District Council.
During the twenty years prior to 2016, Mark served as a Police Officer. He initially spent four years in uniform, before joining the Drug Squad where he was involved in covert surveillance, dealing with intelligence, and submitting detailed files to the Crown Prosecution Service. In 2002, Mark qualified as a PIP level 2 investigator, initially serving as a Detective in the local Crime Investigation Department, before being assigned to various small teams that investigated a series of armed robberies across the South East of England. Mark was subsequently assigned to various murder enquiries, including the investigation into the serial murders committed in Ipswich, before moving into the world of covert intelligence. After two years, Mark returned to a local CID, where he continued to investigate a variety of serious crimes.
